Answer

The first section of the project, Warkworth to Te Hana will be delivered as a Public Private Partnership (PPP). NZTA has undertaken extensive market engagement and the procurement process is ongoing. Subject to successful contract negotiations and Cabinet approval, NZTA expect to award the contract for the PPP by late July 2026. The rest of the corridor between Te Hana and Whangarei is currently in the route protection phase.
