Answer

I refer the Member to the attached table. It is important for the Member to note that our Government has been focussed on increasing the number of frontline health staff working within Health New Zealand. That's why, since coming to Government, around 2000 additional nurses and around 600 additional doctors have joined the health system. I also refer the Member to the Health New Zealand jobs website, which lists 1682 roles (as at 7 June 2026) that are actively being recruited to as part of our focus on putting patients first and ensuring all New Zealanders have access to timely, quality healthcare: https://jobs.tewhatuora.govt.nz/jobtools/jncustomsearch.searchResults?in_organid=19739&in_jobDate=All&in_exact_phrase_match=Y&in_orderby=originaldate%20desc
