  • How many days of helium reserves, if any, are currently held across the New Zealand public health system for use in MRI machines, broken down by hospital?

Answered by

Hon Simeon Brown

Answer

I am advised that helium for MRIs is supplied directly to hospitals by manufacturers. As such, Health New Zealand does not hold helium reserves. I also refer the Member to Written Parliamentary Question 12089 (2026).
