Question

  • Does he accept the Auditor-General's recommendation that all declined emergency housing decisions should be peer reviewed by a manager before being issued; if not, why not?

Answered by

Hon Tama Potaka

Member for Hamilton West · National Party · Associate Minister of Housing

Answer

The Ministry of Social Development has existing assurance arrangements which include escalation to regional managers and national office who review declines for families with dependent children and other vulnerable clients. Officials are currently working towards options that further strengthen oversight of emergency housing decline decisions.
