Answer

NZTA advises me that monitoring compliance with driver licensing requirements, including detecting unlicensed driving, is the responsibility of New Zealand Police rather than NZTA. I refer the Member to my response to Written Parliamentary Question 8827 (2026) regarding the number of individuals whose licences were cancelled for non-response. Of the 69 individuals, I am further advised that one of these individuals has a recorded traffic offence for driving while disqualified since their licence was cancelled.
