Answer

Public research institutions are funded to improve our understanding of New Zealand’s oceans and seafloor through mechanisms such as the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment's Endeavour Fund and Research Programmes funding. I am unaware of any Government funds intended to support private or commercial baseline environmental studies, plume modelling, or offshore exploration surveys.
